Marilyn Ngahuia Vreede – Book Artist and Papermaker
Artists have been active in printing and book production for centuries and in doing so have employed a wide range of sculptural forms as well as the more traditionally bound printed sheets. There are many definitions of ‘Book Arts’ but it is generally agreed it means a book-like object in which content is not limited to words alone. The subject is expressed in every aspect of the work from the words and images to the material used, structure, type and printing method. While sometimes published in small editions they are often produced as one-of-a-kind objects referred to as "uniques". Marilyn's work reflects her cultural background and identity.  If you want a personal gift for an individual or whānau contact her and she will work with you to create that special taonga.
